Investment in transportation infrastructure, such as road, rail and airports, has seen substantial growth in recent years.

This growth stems from worldwide economical growth, globalisation, increasing urbanisation, the renewal of ageing infrastructures, increasing trans-national connections or current limited networks in emerging markets. These projects are either financed by ‘classical’ public tenders or, more likely, by Public Private Partnerships and concessions.

Characteristics of these types of projects are:

  • Long cycles for each phase (Preliminary studies, Feasibility studies, Construction phase, exploitation) leading to the requirement to track project progress and optimise the transfer of information during, and between, each phase.

  • The involvement of a large number of different organisations.

  • The requirement of confidentiality and a high level of security. This is required particularly during the tender phase and expressions of interest in preparatory phase of PPP / PPP tendering packages.
